Whogohost uses SpamExperts, an advanced outbound mail filtering system, to protect our servers and clients from spam, viruses, and compromised accounts.

If your email account is temporarily blocked, it’s because our system detected unusual or potentially harmful sending behaviour.

This process ensures all clients maintain healthy mail reputations and that the HOSTAFRICA network remains safe, trusted, and deliverable worldwide.

Understanding Spam, Bulk, and Transactional Email

What is Spam?

“Spam” refers to unsolicited or unwanted email — messages sent to people who haven’t explicitly agreed to receive them.
Even if the content is harmless or professional, if the recipient didn’t opt in, it’s still considered spam.

Common examples include:

  • Newsletters sent to addresses that didn’t subscribe.

  • Marketing messages sent in bulk to purchased or outdated mailing lists.

  • Mass “announcement” or “promotion” emails sent from your hosting account.

Spam filtering systems, like SpamExperts, detect spam not just by content, but by sending patterns — large volumes of mail in a short time, identical message subjects, or high bounce rates (invalid recipients).

What is Bulk Email?

Bulk email means sending the same or similar message to many recipients — usually more than a few dozen at once.
Even if the recipients are legitimate or known contacts, shared hosting environments are not designed for mass distribution.

Sending bulk mail from a hosting account can:

  • Trigger spam filters.

  • Cause IP reputation damage.

  • Lead to temporary or permanent blocking by SpamExperts.

What is Transactional Email?

Transactional emails are automated notifications triggered by website actions — for example, order confirmations, password resets, or contact form replies.

While these are legitimate, shared hosting is not suited for large volumes of them (like busy e-commerce stores or apps).
We recommend using a dedicated transactional mail service for reliability and compliance.

What To Do If Your Email Is Blocked

If your account is blocked, please:

  1. Run a full virus/malware scan on the devices used to access the affected email accounts.

  2. Change the passwords for the affected email addresses.

  3. Update your hosting account password (cPanel or DirectAdmin) from your Client Area.

Once completed, contact our support team for review and potential reactivation.

Unlock Policy

We allow up to three (3) unlocks per email account.
If blocks reoccur after this limit, further unblocks will not be performed until the cause is permanently resolved.

Repeated offenses may indicate an underlying security or configuration issue or continued or unaltered user behaviour.

Using Professional Mailing Services

If you send newsletters, marketing campaigns, or automated system emails, please use a dedicated email delivery platform.

These are designed for volume, have higher delivery success, and comply with anti-spam regulations:

  • Brevo

  • ZeptoMail

  • SendGrid

  • MailChimp

This ensures reliable delivery and keeps your hosting account secure and compliant.
